The hard part is typing with those big hillbilly sausages you call fingers. I got a set myself. Can't wait to get the seats. Later, Greg
I may not be smart, but I can lift heavy stuff. Ive come to terms with the fact I aint gonna be a ballerina, ever.
Don't stop believing. There's room for a big, bearded, hillbilly ballerina out there somewhere.
When do we start talking cars on this thing?
Alright, I got an offer to be a QuikFuel dealer. I got NO experience with these things . Built in Good ole Kentucky where its still legal to marry your sister. Since you boys build motors, whatdya think of em? Ever run one? I think Im gonna get a entry level race unit for the big blower motor you guys are gonna put together for me to try em out. Afeter these last few Barry Grant Demons I dont think I want to run them any more. Be a good carb if they had any damn sense when it came to assembling them. Shame to have to rebuild a off the shelf new carb.
I haven't used one before but I'm always up to tinkering with a new carburetor. We haven't had any trouble with the demons before. Here's a question for you to contemplate. We've got a 400 Pontiac on the dyno that was built by someone else. It runs like a champ until 4000rpm when it just sort of goes flat. I put a timing light on it and watched while it went through a pull (pretty cool sensation standing in a small cinder block room next to a screaming engine). At 4000 the timing retards 16 degrees. We put a locked out MSD pro billet in it off of Heath's GTO expecting this to cure the problem. This one is totally locked out, no vacuum advance and no mechanical advance. Still loosing 16 degrees. Our next logical conclusion was that it must have a bad timing chain. We pulled the cover and it's in perfect shape. Also pretty sure it's not spark scatter cause the timing doesn't bounce around but stays perfectly steady. And it's a solid roller comp cam so we're pretty sure the cam core isn't flexing either. If you know of any great minds that may have dealt with this before let me know cause this is a first for us and for every other engine builder we've called. Later man, Greg
Is distributor gear on end of cam OK? Cant imagine enough wear to cuase a problem but worth checking. What type of piston is it running? Dome, dish, flat, How much dome? Who ported the heads? Have you looked in the runners? Got couple ideas , come across another problem similar I fought with for weeks once. Ill holler at you about it Wednesday when your down here. May not be same issue but wont hurt to check.
